Duology
Two tools, one story of creation.
The Brief
Duology began as a personal project between two people, which led to the creation of two tools that share a common origin. These fruit-carving tools serve a purpose and tell a story at the same time: they are both masculine and feminine, sculptural and practical. The goal was not only to make a product but also to start a conversation through design—about duality, balance, and human relationships shown in everyday tools.
The Idea
The two objects reflect each other in shape and size, with one reaching forward and the other curving in. Together, they form a visual statement about partnership: different but connected. Each piece only makes sense when it's next to the other. What started out as a design became a real-life example of working together, family ties, and heritage.
The Process
Each curve was first drawn by hand, then balanced by careful material work. The handles were shaped to feel comfortable and natural, made for the hand rather than for display. The mix of metal and shape set the atmosphere for the project: practical beauty, made to be used but also to last.
The Product
In the end, Duology is more than just product design; it is a study of relationships. The two pieces work together, their different shapes create a gentle balance, much like man and woman duality. This is design as empathy—demonstrating understanding through materials.
The Outcome
Duology became more than just an object; it became a symbol of connection. The tools hold personal memories and shared skills, linking art and function and bringing father and daughter together. Its strength lies in its simplicity: two pieces that tell one story about making, family, and the lasting beauty of creating together.
